Daily News Players of the Year from ECU

The Northwest Florida Daily News has named the 2009-2010 All-Area Soccer Teams. Both the boys and girls Players of the Year are ECU players! The Boys Player of the Year is Ricky Hoegg (repeat winner from 2008-2009) and the Girls Player of the Year is Kaitlyn Kutemeyer.

Tiger Showcase Champions

The U14/15 girls took the Auburn Tiger College Showcase March 7th & 8th after defeating the #5 team in the state of Indiana (2-1), the Belles out of Northwest Georgia (2-0), and TUFC (3-2).  The girls went up against the ERSA Express ’95 Shockers out of Chattanooga TN in the championship and finished with a 1-0 victory.  The team only allowed one goal the entire weekend.  Great job girls!!!
Mia Hamm Visit

Score at the Shore Champions

The ECU U17 Girls brought home Gold from the Score at the Shore tournament held in Tampa over President's Day weekend. The girls played 6 games in 3 days and played teams from Chicago, Florida, Georgia, Virginia and beat the host team, Score At The Shore from Long Island, New York to capture the title of the Blue Bracket. This is the first time these girls have played together since the addition of 6 new players and the loss of 3 due to injury and the reclassification of the age group. The girls are coached by Carl Everitt and team members are: Lacey Csaszar, Ali DeMonbrun, Rebecca Dillard, Paige Douglas, Molly Everitt, Lindsay Fretina, Julianne Gaubron, Katie Kaim, Ariel Lindner, Sam Miller, Katie Mitchell, Grace Sager, Kasey Stone, Megan Thomas, Katie Wills and Heather Wilson.

Soccer tourney kicks up help for Haiti
FORT WALTON BEACH — A middle school soccer tournament on Jan 30, 2010 doubled as a T-shirt drive for the earthquake victims in Haiti. ECU contributed 150 new T-shirts and unused uniforms to this cause.

ECU Holds Cleat Drive at Destin Soccer Rodeo


...The Emerald Coast United (ECU) soccer club also undertook a soccer cleat donation drive in the Fall, and received 48 pairs of soccer cleats, as well as seven shin guards. ECU also plans to donate 35 T-shirts left over from soccer tournaments.

This equpment will be sent to "Operation Give," a partner of the Passback Program, which will send it to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan so they can set up teams of soccer players in the countries where they serve.

ECU U16 Boys Win CASL Raleigh College Shootout Championship

Emerald Coast United U16 Boys won their division in the CASL Boys College Showcase, in Raleigh, NC on December 12 -13. The event is one of the most prestigious college showcases in the nation and this year hosted over 7000 athletes from 42 different states and Canada along with 500 college coaches.

To gain the championship ECU defeated Carolina Lightning 2-1 and Virginia Rush 5-0 on Saturday in the preliminary rounds. Sunday they defeated Central Florida United in the Semi- Finals 2-0 and advanced to play Freedom SC United from Maryland Championship game. The score was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation play during the final match causing the teams to go to a penalty kick shootout where Emerald Coast United defeated Freedom SC and claimed the championship 2-1.
